If you are interested in teaching high school English, writing for a newspaper or magazine, producing technical documents, editing content for websites, writing for public relations, strengthening your skills in written argument, conducting and publishing research, laying a foundation for a legal career, or earning your master’s degree in English, KU’s English Department can provide the training you need to achieve your career goals.

Our students select from robust offerings in poetry, fiction, drama, film, and electronic media. They emerge from the program able to read and think critically and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.

Finally, a variety of internships are available (depending upon program), as well as a paralegal concentration, and a multitude of opportunities to participate in a variety of organizations and publications.
