Secondary Ed./English
The Sec. Ed/Eng program leads to a Bachelor of Science in Education and Pennsylvania teacher certification which qualifies the graduate to teach in a middle, junior high, or senior high school.
The B.S. in Secondary Education/English combines studies in literature, literary theory, and media with training in educational methods .This program concludes with a semester of student teaching. Within this major, General Education, Academic Specialization, and Professional Studies are blended to prepare students for careers as secondary education teachers.
Students complete the requirements of a traditional English degree as well as meeting the requirements for Pennsylvania teacher certification. Sec. Ed/Eng students have two advisors—one in the Education Department and another advisor in the English Department—to guide students through the requirements of both programs.
